Ongoing Cosplay Contest
Submission deadline: May 4, 2012
Costume design, both adaptive or original , must be noted as such in the submission.
An example of an adaptive design would be Catherine's dress and vest. The design already exists and is clearly illustrated in the game. An example of an original design can be seen in Narcomanic's, Dovah image (
[link]). The design is not described in either the Myst games or books, yet it looks as if it could easily fit into the Myst universe.
A detailed description on what your costume is based on including the game or book title is needed, and if available, visual references should accompany your entry.
If your costume was made by someone else, or if you use purchased elements in your cosplay, you'll need to document it in your description.
Handmade costumes will earn more points depending on the overall craftsmanship. (handmade= items and pieces made by the entrant)
A high quality overall cosplay presentation may earn bonus points (pose, background scenery, etc.)
Images submitted for this contest will take the place of live presentations so good photos are key! Older costumes may be used, though new photos are highly recommended for this contest. Photo quality will have an impact on points earned for overall presentation.
Image processing is limited to lighting or level adjustments. Edits may not be made that affect the actual costume and you cannot photomanip yourself and the costume over a different background then those you were actually photographed with.
You may ask friends or family to help with photo shoots, makeup and so forth as long as professional services are not obtained.
You may include up to five photos (separate from your reference images) in your submission to show your overall cosplay presentation and costume detailing.
Note from an experienced cosplayer: "
Out of all the pictures submitted, not all are required to be 'pretty pictures', just one is fine. But the pictures together should give as clear a view of the costume as possible, front and back and eventually details."
